Ajax the Shire house is the much-loved mascot and honorary liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Coopers.
He was sculpted from life and photographs, capturing his wonderful, gentle personality as well as his bespoke casks and harness: his bronze has 24 buckles alone!
This sculpture was unveiled to the Master and Clerk at PRIMI on the 27th April 2023. Although Ajax is unlikely to be able to join his fellow Coopers for dinner in the City, his sculpture will undoubtedly make an appearance at the Company dinner table in the future.
